Announcing the Lester E. and Yvonne Snow Bush Endowment

During the “Race, Relationships, and the Life of the Church Now” panel conversation with the Dialogue Foundation this past April, whose title honored Lester Bush’s famous words, “It’s Time We Began”, UVA Mormon Studies announced the Lester E. and Yvonne Snow Bush Endowment. This endowment seeks to honor Lester and Yvonne with the objective of financially supporting future young researchers on important topics in Mormonism. The funds from this endowment could make possible the following initiatives:

• The funding of a “Bush Fellows” program, where undergraduate and graduate students at UVA are supported to conduct original research and foster scholarly conversations on Mormonism
• The establishment of a Bush “Lunch and Learn” Series, a regular lunch event at UVA where an invited guest discusses with community members a topic in Mormon Studies such as those important to Lester Bush’s legacy, all in a fair-minded and respectful way
• Improving the accessibility of our vast library of historical resources
• The funding of a PhD student to engage with students and scholars of Mormonism at UVA and pursue cutting-edge research in the field.
