Chair Laurie Maffly-Kipp Releases “Mormonisms in Asia,” Co-Edited by Melissa Wei-Tsing Inouye

Richard Bushman Chair of Mormon Studies Laurie Maffly-Kipp’s newest book, co-edited with the late historian Melissa Wei-Tsing Inouye, Mormonisms in Asia: Stories of Global Faith and Local Lives released earlier this week. The book focuses on the complex negotiations between Asian Latter-day Saints and Community of Christ members and the Western origins of Restoration traditions. Maffly-Kipp and Inouye compiled and edited numerous essays detailing real case studies and analyses of Asian Mormons’ families, communities, and cultures. The book interweaves these accounts to develop broader themes and recognize trends on the nature of religious globalization and cultural negotiation.
