In October of this year, Religious Studies Ph.D. student and Mormon Studies Graduate Assistant Nicholas Shrum published “For many Latter-day Saints, America has a special relationship with God − but Christian nationalism is a step too far” in The Conversation. Shrum discussed the complex past and interrelationship of patriotism and faith in America for LDS members, as well as the rise of Christian Nationalism in contemporary political discourse.
