TEMPLE STATISTICS

1845-46:  “In less than sixty days, over 5,000 persons received the endowment, 2,420 living individuals received eternal marriage sealings, 369 persons participated in proxy marriage ordinances, 71 children were sealed, 130 adoptions were performed, and 591 received the anointings of the fulness of the priesthood.”  (Ehat Thesis, p. 240; see also endnote #709)

1887:  2 Jul.:  “A report of the Logan Temple Ordinance Work for June 1887 was received showing:  Baptisms Dead 2403 – Endowments Living 138, dead 1219 =1357.  Ordinations living 3, dead 421 = 424.  Sealings, living 63, dead 347 = 410.  Children to parents living 131, dead 90 = 221.  Adoptions 1 Living  Second Anointings living 25 – dead 16 = 41.”  (L. 1891:  9 Jan.:  “I received from Samuel Roskelly, Temple Recorder, the yearly bulletin showing the amount of work done in Logan Temple for 1890, which is as follows:  Baptisms, 30,788; endowments, 12,748; ordinations, 4,465; sealings, 3,831; children to parents, 1,492; adoptions, 53; second anointings, 207.”  (Marriner Wood Merrill diary, 9 Jan., 1891)

1935:  “There have been nine Temples in the Church, the Kirtland Temple, the Nauvoo Temple, the St. George, Manti, Logan, Salt Lake, the Hawaiian, Alberta and the Arizona Temples.  You will be interested to know what has been done in these temples covering the period from Nauvoo days until the present time, or until the end of 1935.  the statement follows:
