Find a Grave: Born at Beaver Dam Twp., Lincoln Co., Ontario, Canada. Son of Aaron and Hannah Skinner. Married first Catharine (Burket/Burkett) Johnson, daughter of George Burket and widow of Noah V. Johnson. Catherine and Levi Skinner endowed in the Nauvoo Temple 29 January 1846. They had 4 children: Joseph Alma Skinner, who died 12 JAN 1865 of typhoid fever at Chattanoga, TN. at Union Army Hospital; Sarah Elizabeth Skinner, who married John Cunningham Mikesell and traveled to Utah as a member of the Mormon Church; Hannah Miria Skinner who married James A. Mowery and John Washington Rickman [1 May 1881, Jordan, Monona, Iowa] and Eleanor Skinner. After Catharine's death, about 1848, Levi married second Sarah G. Davis Horr on the 1st of October 1849 in Allreds camp, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. Religion: Early Mormon, probably lived on river boat at Nauvoo. He later became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Levi was a Seventy in Nauvoo. Occupation: Farmer, Levi elected Coroner April 1855, Crawford Co. Iowa.
